Prince George’s County Public Schools will utilize a new entrance exam for Specialty Programs (Science and Technology, Academy of Health Sciences at PGCC, Aerospace and Engineering Program at DuVal HS). Beginning Fall 2016, they will use the PSAT 8/9 as a part of the entrance criteria.
As in previous years, they will continue to factor in the student’s GPA with their total scores to determine program eligibility. The high score will continue to be 400 points. Quarter or trimester grades will be obtained from the students’ prior school year, as well as the first quarter or trimester of the current school year in the areas of English, mathematics, social studies, and science.
Applications may be completed by visiting the Department of Testing, Research, and Evaluation website, http://www1.pgcps.org/testing/. From there, select the link “Specialty Programs Testing” under the “Test Administration link”. Students will be able to apply, as well as pay for the assessment via this page. Testing is scheduled for Saturday, December 3, 2016. Admissions passes will be mailed after all required documents have been provided and within two weeks of the test date.
